Victor Zsasz is a sociopath with no empathy or regard for human life. Despite growing up in a life of ease, he still became a serial killer. Zsasz is indiscriminate in his prey, since body count is the only thing that matters to him.

Whenever he kills someone, he carves a mark for them in his own body. He is saving a special spot for when he finally kills Batman.

Biography[]

Beginnings of a killer[]

After the death of his parents, Victor took to gambling. After losing most of his inheritance, Victor formed a plan to get it all back. He went to the Iceberg Lounge and attempted to win big against Oswald Cobblepot. Cobblepot lured him into a false sense of security, having Victor win every game and eventually arriving at his personal table. Victor continued to win, until it became a solo match with the Penguin. After losing it all, Victor was thrown out of the club. As he contemplated suicide, leaning over the edge of the Sprang Bridge, a mugger pulled a knife on him and demanded his money. Unable to cope with the situation, Victor lashed out. He took the knife from the mugger and killed him. Feeling a rush he never knew before, and wanting it to mean something, Victor cut himself, making the first mark.[1]

Inmate at Arkham[]

After Joker released most of the prisoners within Arkham Asylum, Zsasz took a guard hostage and strapped him to an electric chair. Using gargoyles above the room, Batman knocked out Zsasz and freed the hostage. Zsasz managed to regain consciousness and kidnapped Dr. Penelope Young. Batman used his Batarang to knock out Zsasz again and save Dr. Young.[2]

Arkham City[]

After being imprisoned within Arkham City, Zsasz began killing those who answered his phone calls. By the time Batman entered the prison, Zsasz had three hostages and threatened to kill them if Batman didn't answer a phone in time and listen to the story of his first kill. In order to prolong their encounter, Zsasz had an ally of his relay the phone signal all the way to Blüdhaven. After successfully tracking down Zsasz to his hideout, Batman snuck up behind him and knocked him out. Zsasz later woke up in one of the cages he kept for his victims, pleading with Batman that he needed to "make the mark".[1]
