Victor Fries was a gifted scientist skilled in cryogenics whose wife Nora was stricken with a fatal disease known as Huntington's chorea.
To save his wife and buy himself time, Victor placed Nora into a state of cryostasis while he worked tirelessly to develop a cure. However, the corporation he worked for – GothCorp – pulled the plug on his research, and triggered an accident that transformed Fries' body into a cold-blooded form that must always be kept below zero. Normal room temperature will kill him.
Renaming himself Mister Freeze, he designed a wide array of freezing weapons and a protective suit of armor to keep himself cool. He hopes to somehow bring back his wife from cryostasis and cure her illness, thought he has made little progress.
Notes[]
- Strangely, when viewed in Detective Mode in Batman: Arkham City, Freeze has no visible skeletal structure other than his skull and neck.
